Reduced Emissions
Toxic emissions of carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC) and particulate matter (PM) are the result of incomplete combustion of the fuel in the engine. The improved atomisation of the fuel and combustion improvement resulting from the use of PremaPLUS, provides for a more complete combustion of the fuel. As a result, the amount of harmful carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbons and particulate matter (“PM”) emissions are substantially reduced.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) are both created by the combustion of fuel in an engine. They are greenhouse gases and contribute to global warming.
The increased fuel efficiency and economy and the more complete combustion resulting from the use of PremaPLUS means that less fuel has to be burned for the same power output. Therefore, for the same power output, less CO2 and NOx (both “greenhouse” gases) are released into the atmosphere.
Fuel economy
There are a series of individual effects of the additive system, which when combined, yield an overall improvement in fuel economy, from 7 to 13% on average. They are summarised as follows:
- The combustion improver component reduces the ignition delay period allowing for higher combustion efficiency and therefore maximising fuel economy, easier engine start, and the stable running of the engine.
- The surfactant effect of the additive reduces the fuel’s overall surface tension as it enters the combustion chamber. This allows for improved atomisation of the fuel in the induction and combustion chamber, resulting in a more complete burn. The engine, therefore, is effectively maximising the inherent energy in the fuel.
- Increased lubricity which reduces friction in the fuel system and enhances the efficiency of the fuel system.
- Detergency effect which keeps the fuel system clean, preventing deterioration of engine performance and efficiency, maintaining optimum fuel economy.
Lubricity, Anti-Wear & Friction Reduction:
The inherent lubricity properties of PremaPLUS increases the lubricity of the fuel. This occurs because the additive will adsorb to the sides of the engine fuel system. This has the effect of coating the fuel system and reducing the friction created as the fuel flows through it. When treated with PremaPLUS, unadditised diesel falls well under the EN 590 and ASTM D943 maximum HFRR lubricity limits. Frictions coefficients are also substantially reduced.
Detergency
Because the PremaPLUS formulation is based on surfactants, it will act to constantly clean the fuel system and engine. The detrimental deposits, which might occur in ordinary use are washed out and retained by fuel and lube oil filters.
Foam reduction:
When treated with PremaPLUS, the foaming characteristics of commercial diesel fuels are considerably reduced, especially the ‘foam collapsing time’.
Rust & Corrosion Reduction:
PremaPLUS is a natural corrosion inhibitor. When the additive surfactant molecules adsorb to the side of the fuel system they provide a protective coating, as well as providing lubricity. Also, the ability to co-solve any free water in the fuel, and prevent phase separation, helps prevent any corrosion that may occur due to the aqueous phase. Fuels treated with PremaPLUS satisfy the requirements of ASTM D 665 B
Co-solvency
An important benefit of our additive technology is the ability to hold limited amounts of ethanol and/or water in diesel as a stable, homogeneous fuel. This is possible because our additive is based on surfactant chemistry, which enables the water and/or ethanol molecules to be distributed throughout the fuel in a stable and homogeneous single phase, preventing phase separation and enhancing uniform combustion.
Oxidation stability
PremaPLUS contains powerful antioxidants which provide superior oxidation stability to pure hydrocarbon fuels, as well as biodiesel and HVO fuel blends.
Reduced Maintenance
The combined effects of improved lubricity, detergency, corrosion inhibition, and cleaner burn resulting from the use of PremaPLUS technology extend the service life of the engine and parts, while reducing maintenance costs.
Deposit formation control
The PremaPLUS components excel at stabilising pure hydrocarbon fuels, as well as biodiesels and HVO fuel blends during long storage periods and preventing deposit formation.
No-Harm data
The test conducted at Lloyds Register’s FOBAS confirm the ‘no-harm’ effect/innocuity of PremaPLUS on MGO (marine gas oil).
Compatibility with other additives
PremaPLUS is fully compatible with other additives present in diesel fuels such as flow improvers, antioxidants, dyes and markers, corrosion inhibitors, antistatics, etc.
